January 27
This was the part that had to do with cutting out the fiberglass tailcone that covered the rear spar servo. I used one of the sidecutting drills and it got away from me once. That's why we had to get some bondo and build up the side a little.
PAGE 12-06, I used a thin line magic marker to hilight the scribe line and that worked pretty good. I used a step drill to drill the large holes called out, and that was an ideal tool to use. We worked about 6 hours on the fiberglass to get the edges right.
PAGE 12-07 was a lot of match drilling and alignment of the fiberglass pieces. We're going to put the tailfeathers back on later next week.
PAGE 25-02 we started the process of putting the fuselage onto the tailcone...fun. We used our little wooden tool to bend the tabs of the tailcone so that we could put the fuselage on. We also put the shoulder straps on the skin. Seems like a weak point to put a shoulder harness, but it was put on with about 16 rivets.
JANUARY 31 we got over to page 25-04 and put on the corner skin pieces, then we stopped on page 25-05 when we were supposed to put on the rear glass. We decided that this was a good place to paint the interior. Besides, we're going to have to heat the garage up to about 75 degrees, which will really be quite uncomfortable, but necessary to work the glass.
