"STARTING THE FINISHING KIT..."

Well, we're back with all new adventures of the RV12, kit # 16. We received the box about a weekago, via Partain Shipping. The box measured about 4 X 6 X 26 inches and weighed about 400 pounds. We got the box open and there was a lot of open space as they were shipping mostly large items, like the canopy, the cowling, and the exlectrical stuff. The shipping was about 500 dollars.
Anyway, here's what happened today, about 7 hours of work.
Page 30-02, we tapped the handles for the magnets. I think the holes were a little too small, as it was pretty difficult getting the tap to cut the metal. We're going to paint the handles and wait a little longer to finish them up. We're not going to fit the wings as they're at a different location.
Page 31-02, we clamped up the terminal block and I didn't read the directions, again, so I drilled ALL the holes to 30 instead of just two of them. It was easier using snips to separate the terminal. Everything else on this page was pretty straight forward.
Page 31-03 was a little tedious. On step 2, it called to cut a 36 inch piece of conduit, the only problem being was that it came in a 36 inch length... We ran the string through the conduit using stiff wire. It was difficult for us old guys to stretch and reach inside the cockpit to loosen the pedals so that we could run the wires behind and over the pedal cluster. If you look at the WH-RV12 SL-ANT 90 deg bend end, it looks as though there are two wires coming from that end, but we couldn't see the two wires...a bit frustrating. We had to slit a couple of grommets to get some of the wire through, and it think it's easier to run the telephone wire from the front of the AC to the rear.
Over on page 31-04, lots of luck to the color blind folks...we taped the loose ends to the wire bundle, to keep things from getting to messy and difficult to place through the holes. We tested the fans and then placed them as directed.
Today we worked from 10 am to 5pm. We probably won't work on anything until Tuesday or Wednesday.
The pictures are of the wiring that we did today.
